Open Source University Meet-up

OSUM is an on-campus community (club) that educates students about the importance of FOSS(free open source software) and the latest Open Source technologies and communities supported by Sun. OSUMs provide students with training in cutting edge technologies in demand by the IT industry, access to resources to advance their careers through engaging and fun technology-based activities.
All OSUMs are connected to each other via a global online community that enables students to interact with other students passionate about FOSS at their university, in their country or around the world. They are more than 100 countries registered under this program and we are the 5th in Hyderabad(JNTU,OU,HCU,CBIT,NMREC).

NMREC OSUM

NMREC-OSUM club has been officially started in NMREC by the departments IT and CSE on 9th of February 2009. We had our first discussion on 17th of February in the college CFDM. We had over 129 students attending it and the speaker was M.Vikhyath Reddy, of IT (sun authorized student representative and OSUM leader, NMREC-OSUM) .The agenda of the discussion being Open Source Software(OSS) its growth and advantages in the past 10 yrs and introduction to OSUM.
