Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering pilots research in Image and Signal Processing, Communications, VLSI, Embedded Systems and IOT. The department also offers M.Tech program in VLSI Systems Design.

Image and Signal Processing:

The goal of this research group is to develop technologies that will change the technological landscape of Image and Signal Processing. Our research in this area contributes to the betterment of society in the fields of medicine, communication, and information processing. Novel technologies like Machine Learning are used in combination with Image and Signal Processing to provide cutting edge solutions for problems in the Medical, Communication and Information Processing fields. Ten faculty members from the department are actively contributing to Research in this field. The faculty of the department published five patents and numerous research papers in reputed research journals. Research grant has been obtained from TEQIP-II JNTUH (Funded by World Bank) for research in early detection of brain tumors.

Communications:

The aim of Communications research group is to invent new communication technologies and implement existing technologies in innovative ways for the betterment of Society. The department of ECE has a dedicated Microwave and Antenna lab to facilitate research in this regard. Six faculty members from the Department of ECE are actively involved in research in this area.

VLSI:

Developing cutting-edge systems for the building blocks of new circuit technology and digital signal processing, design of FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) and low-power circuits is the vision of this research group. Dedicated VLSI and Digital Signal Processing Labs are available to facilitate research in these areas. Seven faculty members from the department of ECE are actively involved in VLSI research.

Embedded Systems and IOT:

Seven Faculty members from the department of ECE are involved in research in this area. We have a dedicated IOT lab which is fully equipped with hardware like Arduino, Raspberry Kits etc, to facilitate research. We have published many research papers in reputed journals and foster the culture of innovation in students by encouraging them to participate in research and publish research papers.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering

Computer Science and Engineering Department is actively engaged in the niche areas of technological development and research in these areas. The Undergraduate students of the department are also encouraged to take up research projects. The students of the department significantly contributed to research through publications in the field.  The department offers an M.Tech program in Computer Networks and Information Security to enhance research in these fields and develop expertise in those areas through PG projects.

Cryptography, Information Security:

Information Security is one of the significant areas of research in the era of the digital world. The building blocks for Information security lie in cryptography. Significant contributions have been made by the faculty of the department in Cryptography and Information Security, with a good number of publications citing these works.

Mobile Adhoc Networks (MANETs):

A MANET consists of a number of mobile devices that come together to form a network as needed, without any support from any existing internet infrastructure or any other kind of fixed stations. A MANET can be defined as an autonomous system of nodes (also serving as routers) connected by wireless links, the union of which forms a communication network modelled in the form of an arbitrary communication graph.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning:

Artificial intelligence is a technology that enables a machine to simulate human behavior. Machine learning is a subset of AI which allows a machine to automatically learn from past data without programming explicitly. The goal of AI is to make a smart computer system like humans to solve complex problems. Machine learning is the study of computer algorithms that can improve automatically through experience and by the use of data. It is seen as a part of artificial intelligence.

Cloud Computing:

Cloud Computing is the on-demand delivery of IT resources over the Internet with pay-as-you-go pricing. Instead of buying, owning, and maintaining physical data centers and servers, you can access technology services, such as computing power, storage, and databases, on an as-needed basis from a cloud provider.

Big data:

Big data is a field that treats ways to analyze, systematically extract information from, or otherwise deal with data sets that are too large or complex to be dealt with by traditional data-processing application software.

Data Mining:

Data mining is one of the most useful techniques that help entrepreneurs, researchers, and individuals to extract valuable information from huge sets of data. Data mining is also called Knowledge Discovery in Database (KDD). The knowledge discovery process includes Data cleaning, Data integration, Data selection, Data transformation, Data mining, Pattern evaluation, and Knowledge presentation.
