A FIVE-DAY HANDSON WORKSHOP ON STAADPRO- 13 JULY -17 JULY 2020
Department of Civil Engineering, Nalla Malla Reddy Engineering College, Hyderabad, successfully organized a five-day online workshop on STAAD PRO from 13-07-2020 to 17-07-2020. The objective of the event was to create awareness among students of Civil Engineering about various applications and Implementation of STAAD Pro software. The Civil Engineering department, in association with CEA-NMREC organized STAAD Pro Workshop through online using forums like Google meet and you tube live to reach out for maximum participants throughout India. The Event has received more than 2,200 participants from India (covering 19 states) and abroad. The WhatsApp groups were created for constant communication with participants in which about more than 1,800 participants have joined. Overall, the whole 5-day workshop was loaded up with many memorable moments and new thoughts that will be fulfilling as future expectations.    
 

Department of Civil Engineering of Nalla Malla Reddy Engineering College organized an Industrial Guest Lecture on “Aluminium Formwork” on 28th February 2020 from 11:00 AM to 1.00 PM in Civil department seminar hall.
The guest lecture gathers eminent speaker : B. Malikarjun, Director,VEDAN Infra and Projects Pvt Ltd,Hyderabad. The lecture was attended by 100 students and 4 Faculty members of Civil Engineering Department.B. Malikarjun with 10 years of industrial experience in leading organizations including GHMC, Hyderabad. PWD,NCC, L&T, Sew constructions etc. The session was then continued by B. Malikarjun who began with an introduction to the system of aluminum forms has been used widely in the construction of residential units and mass housing projects. It is fast, simple, adaptable and cost – effective. It produces total quality work which requires minimum maintenance and when durability is the prime consideration. This system is most suitable for Indian condition as a tailor –made aluminum formwork for cast–in–situ fully concrete structure. Following which,B. Mallikarjun Shed light on the benefits and drawbacks of using aluminum formwork and how effectively it is being used in the construction industry.

Department of Civil Engineering of Nalla Malla Reddy Engineering College organized a Guest Lecture on “Tests on Pavement materials” on 18th February 2020 from 1:00 PM to 4.00 PM in Civil department seminar hall. The guest lecture gathers eminent speaker: Dr. R. Srinivasa Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, University College of Engineering Osmania University, Hyderabad. The lecture was attended by 120 students and 10 Faculty members of Civil Engineering Department.
Dr. R. Srinivasa Kumar with 17 years of teaching experience and 15 years of research experience in leading organizations including GHMC, Hyderabad. PWD, NCC, L&T, Sew constructions etc. The session was then continued by Dr. R. Srinivasa Kumar who began with an introduction to the Pavement performance which is an important issue in the operation and planning of highway engineering. There are several factors that affect pavement performance, such as traffic, soil, environmental, economic and stress distribution factors. Various Tests on Pavement materials is and how important it is going to be in the near future. Following which, Dr. R. Srinivasa Kumar shed light on the benefits and drawbacks of using pavement materials and how effectively it is being used in the construction industry.

The guest lecture gathers eminent speaker: Dr. K B V N Phanindra, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT, Hyderabad. The lecture was attended by 125 students and 10 Faculty members of Civil Engineering Department.
Dr. K B V N Phanindra with 15 years of teaching experience and 11 years of research experience in leading organizations including GHMC, Hyderabad. PWD, NCC, L&T, Sew constructions etc. The session was then continued by Dr. K B V N Phanindra who began with an introduction to the Water resources engineering is a specialty of civil engineering that focuses on water supplies, irrigation and waste disposal. It also addresses methods for controlling water to avoid water-related damage and catastrophes. Following which, Dr. K B V N Phanindra shed light on the benefits and drawbacks of using water resources engineering and how effectively it is being used in the civil engineering.

Department of Civil Engineering, Nalla Malla Reddy Engineering College, Hyderabad, successfully organized a 2 week Virtual Internship program on STAAD PRO from 18-07-2020 to 30-07-2020. The objective of the event was to create provide internships virtually to students of Civil Engineering about various applications and Implementation of STAAD Pro software, as it is harder for them to find internships in this pandemic situation.  The Civil Engineering department, in association with CEA-NMREC organized this internship through online using forum like Google meet reach out for limited participants throughout India. The limited participation of 159 students was used, and selection of participants was done based on assessments through previous staad Pro Workshop. Exciting Cash prizes were given for the best 2 internship projects.

As a part of CEA- NMREC, Students have organized Teachers Day event virtually a mark of to express their gratitude to the contribution made by their teachers in shaping their future.

The student branch of CEA – NMREC has organized Engineers day on 15 September 2020. Students have presented virtually about the great contributions by different civil engineers.organized Engineers day on 15 September 2020.

Department of Civil Engineering, Nalla Malla Reddy Engineering College, Hyderabad, successfully organized a five-day online workshop from 17-05-2021 to 21-05-2021. The objective of the event was to create awareness among students of Civil Engineering and other departments about the importance of project management in their respective fields and how to manage a particular project effectively with the available resources and money. They are introduced to M.S.Project software through which they can plan, schedule and monitor the project activities. The Civil Engineering department in association with CEA-NMREC organized workshop online through Google meet. We received a huge response from participants from different years and more than 150 Participants have registered for the event. Out of this around 75 participants have joined the sessions. All the communications regarding the workshop were done through their WhatsApp groups. Entire one-week was jam-packed with unforgettable moments and innovative ideas that will exceed future expectations.

Alumni Connect 2k21 was organized virtually on 13 June 2021 to interact with the alumni of the civil department. The alumni were elated to take part in this virtual event and they have attended it from different corners of the world. The alumni have given their word to support existing students in internships, projects and to mentor them in choosing their career path.

Department of Civil Engineering, Nalla Malla Reddy Engineering College, Hyderabad, successfully organized Project Expo-2021 on 15-06-2021. The main objective of the event was to provide a platform for the final year students to unleash their potential by showcasing their innovative projects done in their final year. The students have done their projects by keeping the Society and industry needs in mind. Just like every year this year also the project expo was conducted to the final year students to present their project works. This time it is conducted online using Google meet due to the current COVID situation. They are asked to present their project works in poster presentation mode. Most of the civil engineering projects are possible either in laboratory or in field. But due to the current COVID situation and lockdown, our students could not do their project works either in laboratory or field. So, in this context, our faculty members and students have come up with some ideas so that the project works can be done without using laboratories / filed studies. There was a total of 12 number of projects presented this year.
The experts have told that, most of the project works are worth full and innovative. They have also appreciated the efforts of both students and faculty made in selecting the topics for projects and completing them successfully in the current COVID situation.

AAKRUTHI 2K21, a first ever virtual Tech fest organized under the banner of Civil engineering association, CEA- NMREC by the Department of Civil Engineering in online mode. This event provides unique opportunities to students where the young engineers could come across with many innovative ideas that made them to bring out the best in them as perfect engineers. Many technical and non-technical events are part of the fest which aims at creating a Virtual platform to compete, learn and promote Civil Engineering among the students.
The feedbacks of the event give us the real satisfaction for the conduction of event. All the feedbacks for the event are positive and we have received some suggestions for next TECHFEST too.
